Application for Secondary One Discretionary Places
Discretionary places (DP) are Secondary 1 (S1) places reserved by secondary schools for admission of students at their own discretion.
Eligibility for Participation:

- Copies of the school Application Form for Secondary1 admissions can be obtained in following ways:
(i) You may post a request for this application form with an enclosed self-addressed envelope of standard size with
appropriate postage ($2.20) to Ho Ngai College (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen), 8 Oi Ming Lane, TUEN MUN, N.T. and
we will return our application form to you by post; or
(ii) You may request an application form in person from the school General Office during its office hours.
(iii) You may download the application form here.
(iv) You may submit applications for Secondary 1 admission for your children through the Education Bureau's ‘SSPA e-Platform (eSSPA)’ and receive notifications for successful Discretionary Places applicants (if applicable) and allocation results.
- The completed application forms must be submitted in person at the school General Office during office hours from Thursday 2nd January until Thursday 16th January 2025. Late applications may not be considered. The following documents are required:
(i) Application Form for S1 Discretionary Place issued by the Education Bureau
(ii) Application Form for Secondary 1 Discretionary Place issued by Ho Ngai College
(iii) Applicant's HKID card, passport or birth certificate (Both the original and a photocopy)
(iv) School report cards for the last two academic years (Primary 5 and Primary 6) (Both the original and a photocopy)
(v) Certificates showing applicant's achievements and awards (if any) (Both the original and a photocopy)
(vi) Recommendation letters from primary schools should NOT be submitted at this stage of the application process.
- Note that the Education Bureau has issued strict instructions this year that Primary 6 students can apply for ONLY TWO schools via secondary 1 discretionary place applications. If more than TWO secondary 1 discretionary place applications are submitted ALL such applications will be cancelled and deemed ineligible for consideration by any of the selected schools.
- A letter will be sent to all eligible applicants detailing interview arrangements in late February 2025. These interviews will be held on Saturday 8th March 2025. Parents of all successful applicants will be notified by letter and phone on Monday, 31st March 2025.
- For the 2025/26 school year there will be only 30 places available for admission to this school via secondary 1 discretionary place allocation. Due to this limited quota only applicants with better conduct and academic performance will be admitted.

- Collection of personal data
(a) The personal data provided by means of this form will be used for the application of student admission.
(b) They may be disclosed to other Government Branches/Departments/Educational Institutes for the purposes
mentioned in (a);
(c) The provision of personal data by means of this form is obligatory. If you do not provide sufficient information, the Education Bureau/School may not be able to process matters relating to the above-mentioned application;
(d) You have a right of access and correction with respect to personal data as provided for in Sections 18 and 22 and Principle 6 of Schedule 1 of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance. Your right of access includes the right to obtain a copy of your personal data provided by this form/record;
