Alumni Career Sharing: Diligence and Professionalism — Insights from Veteran Makeup Artist Chrisby Wong

As part of the school’s Alumni Sharing Series, the school was pleased to welcome back alumnus Ms Chrisby Wong (黃諾詩), a veteran professional makeup artist and founder of her own makeup studio, to share her career journey and industry insights with junior students.

Drawing from years of frontline experience in the beauty industry, Ms Wong offered an authentic account of the profession behind the glamour. She explained that while solid technical skills and aesthetic sensitivity are essential, long-term success ultimately depends on perseverance, self-discipline, and a strong work ethic. Recalling her daily routine, she shared how it is common for her to begin wedding makeup work as early as 4:00 a.m., and then proceed directly to beauty exhibitions, working long hours with unwavering commitment.

Ms Wong highlighted that her career development was built gradually through continuous effort — from working independently with a makeup case to eventually forming and leading a professional team. She also emphasized the importance of teamwork and mutual support, noting how positive morale and encouragement help sustain energy and motivation in a demanding work environment.

Students found the sharing session both inspiring and eye-opening. Many reflected that there are no shortcuts to success, only consistent effort and accumulated experience. The talk not only deepened their understanding of the beauty industry, but also reinforced the value of diligence as a key quality for professional growth.
