Alumna Ms Apple Kei (紀正兒) recently returned from Shanghai to her alma mater to share her career planning journey and personal growth experiences with junior students. Through an honest and insightful talk, she encouraged students to face challenges with confidence, gain a clearer understanding of themselves, and explore diverse pathways for personal and professional development.

Ms Kei shared that she was not a “high-achieving student” in the conventional sense and had experienced setbacks in public examinations. Nevertheless, she always had a clear understanding of her interests and aspirations. Upon completing secondary education, she chose a path of horizontal development by steadily advancing her passion for music. She pursued continuous professional training and relevant certifications, while gaining teaching experience to enhance her skills. Over time, she successfully transformed personal interest into professional expertise, and subsequently into a sustainable career.

In her professional journey, Ms Kei actively participated in international competitions and exchanges to broaden her global perspective. Her current professional portfolio covers a wide range of areas, including teaching, performance programme design, and workshop planning, reflecting her versatility and capacity for multidisciplinary development.

In 2016, Ms Kei made a significant career transition from frontline teaching to administrative and management roles. She took the lead in planning and executing large-scale projects, challenging herself in unfamiliar fields. Even during periods of industry slowdown in 2019, she remained proactive—reflecting on her experience, seeking new opportunities, and taking on multiple roles such as stage director, programme director, and adjudicator, further expanding both the depth and breadth of her career.

In concluding her sharing, Ms Kei reminded students that confusion and setbacks are a natural part of life. What truly matters is maintaining confidence, having the courage to try, and taking steady, purposeful steps forward. Her journey demonstrates that there is no single definition of success; by embracing one’s individuality and persevering with determination, everyone can carve out a meaningful path of their own.
